GRADUATE APTITUDE TEST IN ENGINEERING

WHAT IS GATE?

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an all India examination that gives you the winning edge in a highly competitive engineering job market. The last few years have seen engineering job market lose its sheen, and most graduates end up with jobs that are not upto their expectations.

This competitive exam, conducted jointly by IIT’s and IISc, assesses the candidate’s understanding of the core engineering concepts and ability to apply the same in the real world. If a student makes the necessary efforts to strive for the high scores, GATE can be his / her gateway to an exciting future career.

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) jointly administer the conduct of GATE. The operations related to GATE in each of the 8 zones are managed by a zonal GATE Office at the IITs or IISc. The Organizing Institute (OI) is responsible for the end-to-end process and coordination amongst the administering Institutes.

WHY GATE?

  1. GATE scores are considered for admissions to Masters programs at IITs, NITs, NITIE and other reputed engineering institutions across the country.
  2. These scores are also used by highly esteemed PSUs such as BPCL, GAIL, HPCL, IOCL among others as the base during their selection procedures. In other words, when you choose to appear for GATE, you are choosing a better future for yourself.
